Program Overview

Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) is a dynamic and interdisciplinary field that explores the intricate journey of human growth and relationships across the lifespan. From the earliest stages of childhood to the complexities of aging, HDFS delves into the biological, psychological, and social factors that shape individuals and families. This major equips students with a deep understanding of how individuals develop within the context of their families and communities, preparing them for diverse careers focused on enhancing well-being and fostering positive change.

Bachelor's Degree

The undergraduate program in Human Development and Family Sciences introduces students to applied developmental sciences. We emphasize human development and family life in different settings, such as neighborhoods and communities. Our dynamic curriculum prepares students for experiences in real settings. Such areas involve human service organizations, education, childcare settings, and government agencies.

Combined Bachelor's/Master's

In addition to a bachelor’s degree, Anne’s College also offers a combined bachelor’s/master’s pathway. The pathway allows students to apply up to 10 graduate level credit hours toward both a BS and MS degree in Human Development and Family Science.  Students will have access to new career opportunities upon completion of the pathway. On top of enhancing research skills, data-based decision making, and translating research to practice, master’s students in Human Development and Family Science gain the experience and knowledge to help them excel in higher-level and in-demand careers, such as family court parental coordinator, divorce mediator, family liaison, policy analyst, community program coordinator, and more.
