Dr. Yeo-eun Kim is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology (Learning & Cognition Program) in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems at Florida State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology along with an interdisciplinary specialization in Quantitative Research Methods from The Ohio State University. Before coming to Florida State University, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on students’ motivation and self-regulated learning in diverse personal and social settings. She directs the Self-regulation and Motivation for ALL (SMALL) lab, with a particular focus on various motivational challenges and self-regulatory processes. Within her program of research, she has established three strands of research: (1) examining why students are (or are not) motivated to engage in an academic task while jointly considering the surrounding context(s); (2) understanding different strategies students can use monitor and regulate their own motivation (motivational regulation); and (3) developing ways to support students to pursue and achieve academic, social, and well-being goals (multiple goals regulation).
She is currently serving as a member of the editorial board for Journal of Educational Psychology and Journal of Experimental Education, and as the Chair for the AERA Teaching Educational Psychology SIG. In addition, she is a recipient of the Pintrich Outstanding Dissertation Award from APA Division 15 and Graduate Student Research Award from AERA.
At Florida State University, Dr. Kim teaches Introduction to Educational Psychology, Research Methods in Education, and Research Proposal Writing.
