Since 1985, Florida State University’s College of Education has spotlighted extraordinary alumni during our annual Distinguished Alumni Awards. These alumni are honored for their academic, creative, and humanitarian achievements in a variety of categories.
This year, we are proud to announce that six award winners have been chosen—four alumni have been given the Distinguished Alumni Award, and two alumni who have graduated in the last decade were presented with the Trailblazer Award:

Dr. Lou Brown (special education and vocational rehabilitation Ph.D. ’69) passed away earlier this month. Brown had a tremendous impact on special education, transforming not just the field, but countless lives during his storied career.
